2023 Grüner Veltliner
Estate-grown Grüner Veltliner blend
A lovely wine made from an estate-grown blend of Grüner Veltliner, Chardonel, and Chardonnay. Despite its 11% alcohol, this wine packs a punch. A certain saline quality permeates the palate, activating notes of lemon, marcona almond, and vanilla. Grüner’s trademark white pepper bouquet plays a supporting role. The finish wraps up with an almost salty/savory/honey flavor making one not linger in enjoying another sip.
This wine tastes more Burgundian in nature despite only a small portion of Chardonnay.
Descriptors: lemon, marcona almond, vanilla, saline, white pepper, honey. The extended élevage in barrel (18 months) only benefited this wine and we’re excited to see where it goes from here. Drinking great on release, but certainly consider cellaring a few bottles to enjoy every year or two for the next 5 to 8 years.
