Skin-Macerated Pinot Gris
13.8% ABV | 12 Month French Oak | 7 Day Skin Macerated | American Appellation
Ever heard of orange wine? Historically produced widely in Eastern Europe, "orange wine" or "amber wine" is the result of producing wine with white grapes more in the style of making red wine. The skins of the white grapes stay in contact with the juice resulting in unique floral and fruit notes, textures, tannins, and an orange tinted color not typical of a normal white wine.
Honeysuckle and pear aromas prevail initially as this elegant, rose-gold wine opens up. The medium body continues to support pear and a hint of oak on the palate. Blood orange and a hint of spiced chai mingle with supple tannins and a long finish. 2018 Sungold is a very unique wine and should be paired with an interesting dish. Try salt-cured duck breast or a snapper filet with lemon-herbed butter. Cellar up to 2024.
